Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Evers served with Purdue Extension in South Bend as both an Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator and County Extension Director. Through those roles, she worked closely with local communities, built strong relationships, and connected individuals and organizations with resources and programs designed to create positive community impact.

As Community Initiatives Program Manager, Evers will lead Community Foundation-supported initiatives and community projects in collaboration with nonprofits, schools, businesses, donors, local government agencies, healthcare organizations, civic and service groups, workforce development partners, faith-based organizations, and other community stakeholders.

Evers will also serve as the Community Foundation’s lead staff representative for the Hawpatch Trail Project, supporting the Community Foundation’s role as a project partner and helping advance community engagement and collaboration efforts. She will also coordinate the ongoing work of the LaGrange County Early Learning Coalition, bringing together partners to address early learning needs and strengthen opportunities for local families.

“I’m most excited about meeting new people, learning from the team, and having the opportunity to work in the area where I grew up,” said Evers. “It’s really special to be building connections and starting this next chapter in the same community where I was raised.”

Growing up on a family farm, Evers developed a strong appreciation for hard work, responsibility, and collaboration. She is passionate about farm-to-school programs, agricultural education, and helping others appreciate the beauty and value of the natural world.

“Emily brings a strong background in community engagement, relationship building, and collaborative leadership,” said Octavia Yoder, Executive Director. “Her passion for strengthening communities through community engagement make her a wonderful addition to our team.”

Evers looks forward to continuing to learn about the people, organizations, and partnerships that make LaGrange County a special place to live and work.

In her free time, she enjoys gardening, baking, and spending time with family.
