Grants Overview

Community Impact Grants

The LaGrange County Community Foundation awards grants for innovative and creative projects and programs that are responsive to changing community needs from our unrestricted community funds. Nonprofit organizations and qualifying government agencies serving LaGrange County are eligible to apply for a Community Impact Grant through our competitive application process. In general, the Community Foundation gives preference to proposals that fill an unmet need or provide an innovative program in five areas: arts and culture, health and human services, education, environment and recreation. Grant requests to fund operating expenses or to replenish expended funds are not typically approved. Grant applicants should review the Community Impact Grant Application Guidelines and contact the Program Officer to discuss the project before applying.

Community Impact Grant applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through Friday, Nov. 3, 2017.

LIFE Grants

Public and private schools seeking support for classroom or extracurricular activities must apply for funding through LIFE's competitive application process. Other youth-serving organizations are encouraged but not required to make their requests through LIFE. All LIFE grant applicants are required to use the LIFE application and submit their application by the LIFE application deadline.

At this time, LIFE is not accepting grant applications.

Deadlines and Application Availability

The last day to submit a 2017 Community Impact Grant application is Friday, Nov. 3. Applications are being accepted at anytime through the final date. Organizations seeking funds will be notified by Dec. 1, 2017 of their award status. Grant applicants are strongly encouraged to check our website before submitting an application to insure that they are using the most current application form. Outdated application forms will not be accepted for consideration.

Please be advised, our board of directors may decide not to invest in projects that are already underway, completed or seeking reimbursement.

Final Grant Reports

A final grant report is required for all competitive, proactive, designated or donor advised grants awarded through the LaGrange County Community Foundation. This also applies to grants awarded through the LIFE youth philanthropy program. The report must be completed with the form provided by the Community Foundation. If the funding is for a special project and short term in nature, this report must be submitted within 30 days of the conclusion of the project. If funding is for an on-going program, this report must be submitted on or before the one-year anniversary of the award. Final grant reports must be submitted and on file before additional grant requests will be considered.
