LaGrange County Master Trails Plan
In collaboration with LaGrange County Trails to establish a Countywide Trails Master Plan. The Foundation received a grant from Lilly Endowment's Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) Phase VIII to engage in planning activities aimed at envisioning and developing, in collaboration with community stakeholders, plans to enhance its communities' quality of life. The Foundation secured HWC Engineering to assist with this plan. The trails master plan will help LaGrange County Trails and community leaders in devising a unified and thorough strategy for enhancing and expanding trail infrastructure and programs.
Support the work of LaGrange County Trails as they develop the Hawpatch Trail in Topeka, a 17-mile multi-use biking and walking trail, connecting the towns of Topeka, Millersburg and Wolcottville. Thanks to a generous grant from Lilly Endowment's initiative Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow, the Foundation received a $225,000 matching grant to support the Hawpatch Trail. All gifts to the Hawpatch Trail Fund at the Community Foundation will be matched 1-for-1 through December 31, 2025.
In partnership with LaGrange County Arts, LaGrange County INspired is bringing local artwork into participating businesses, showcasing the incredible talent within our community. These displays not only highlight the creativity of local artists but also aim to inspire others through their work. Each piece of artwork features a QR code that links to a video of the artist sharing their journey, creative process, and sources of inspiration. This unique project offers an engaging way to connect with the arts and gain a deeper appreciation for the stories behind the pieces. By bringing art into everyday spaces, we’re fostering awareness and celebrating the vibrant artistic community in LaGrange County. Let their work inspire you!
LIFE is a youth philanthropy initiative founded by the Dekko Foundation under the direction of the LaGrange County Community Foundation. Students from Lakeland, Westview and Prairie Heights become members as 9th graders and remain through high school. The program is also open to home-school students. Students gain experiences in community service and promote philanthropy among young people.
